TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) consist of 6 EASY stretching exercises that evoke NATURAL SHAKING (or tremors) in your body. With these tremors, you UNLOCK your body’s NATURAL HEALING MECHANISMS to release tension and bring physical and emotional healing.
This shaking, also called neurogenic tremors, begins to release deep chronic muscular tension held within the body. When tension is released anywhere in the body, the brain registers a reduction in pain signals and produces new hormones of relaxation and comfort. TRE help individuals release stress or tension as a result of difficult life circumstances, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences.
These NEUROGENIC TREMORS are elicited in the psoas muscle, the body’s centre of gravity and spreads outwards from there up the back and down the legs and arms. If not suppressed or interrupted it will continue until the entire chemical/hormonal/muscular build-
TRE is designed to reintroduce our natural tremoring response so we can release accumulated tensions to better tolerate daily stressors. This natural process is beneficial for everyone whether you are suffering from mild stress or deep seated trauma.
Animals have a natural capability to tremor after experiencing any form of trauma or fear. Studies on animals in the wild demonstrate that they do not have PTSD as a result of effectively discharging the traumatic experience. Animals in captivity do not do this and their health and life span is greatly impaired as a result.
What has happened in humans? Over centuries we have stopped the natural inbuilt tremoring mechanism because we have defined SHAKING as a WEAKNESS or PATHOLOGICAL. That put us, in effect, in a cultural cage. By the age of 7 we have given up the tremoring mechanism, designed to protect us from long term damage created by trauma.
TRE has brought back the natural tremoring response back to us. People around the world benefit today from the wonderful physical and emotional healing that TRE has to offer.
